Ian and Lively

A semester-long project that I completed in my Intro to Digital Media class at Moorpark College. There were four stages to this project: Characters, Logo, Poster, & Animation. This project depicts a gloomy giraffe named Ian and his magical butterfly friend named Lively, who magically lifts his spirits. I went for a complementary color scheme of dark blue and golden orange because I believed that it suit the theme of the story.

Stage 1 - Characters

Designed the first draft of the characters using Adobe Illustrator.

Stage 2 - Logo

Designed using Adobe Illustrator.

Stage 3 - Poster

Imported the characters, logo, caption, and (fictitious) film credits in Photoshop.

Revised the characters' designs.

Added a flower background texture with a golden orange color blend in Photoshop.

Stage 4 - Animation

Animation (Mock film teaser trailer)

Animated the giraffe and butterfly's movements in Illustrator, exported as a GIF in Photoshop, then imported the GIF into After Effects.

Animated the rest of the assets fading in on After Effects.

Background music composed by Aaron Plummer and performed by Kevin Fukagawa.
